Seals

Philatelic Exhibition seals, beautifully engraved. These show a plane, rider on horseback, a ship and also a train with the globe in the forefront.

Awesome design and artwork.

Cactus State

It certainly has been awhile hasn't it? I've gotten a few mixtures on approval the last couple weeks but haven't found the time to dig into them.
Arizona also sold these in 1 ounce denominations. Arizona sold these even though cannabis is illegal in the state. The one ounce stamps are blue and a revision to the design which shows a cactus was later issued.

Postage due

These were released in 1945. Postage dues overprinted for Shanghai and Nanking from what I can see in my catalogue.

Radiation

Aurora Borealis and Australis

You must click on the image for the broadband image. This is one of the rare U.S. stamps that come out that are great(in my eyes).
Greta Garbo was the last really good one.
This is an Omnibus release. Even better, I the countries escape my mind at the moment. At least half a dozen if my memory serves me correctly.
I'll no doubt be changing todays post with the list of countries.

Sprite

Just your typical water sprite. Famous artwork. Famous engraver.

After posting this, I noticed the odd perf cuts on top. It almost looks like a stamp is beneath. Oddest thing. I'm not soaking this one.

Torch and Rings

Perusing Stan's blog, http://www.stanlickstampexchange.blogspot.com/ , who commented yesterday, I saw mention of Olympic material. By coincidence moments later I spotted this.

International response

I've heard of these before, but never seen one until this weekend at the USPS stand at the stamps show.

Nice looking item I think. Are these all identicle no matter which country you buy them in? I wonder?

Superb?

Bad mark granted, but still nice stumbling on it. #102 and 166 respectively.

166 is even a better find, without a stain and arguably superb centering.

writing

I'm not sure exactly what this is, other then Germany. I'm confused by the writing.
Was the writing done by a collector? Probably is my guess, but anyone else have any other idea?

Bulbul

Tracy from work brought me another clipping this week. Call it a birdy week for me, stretched for time I was. Feeling thin. This is all the stamping I did this week.

Shame on me.

Diana

There is something about these stamps I'm not crazy about.

Perhaps the lack of detail.

Maybe the poor centering. Poor?

Still a necessity when you collect Dianne topically

Environmental Protection

They high value is on a small sheet. MS is what I call it.

If a small country like Cambodia can understand the value of it, why can't the U.S.?

Dealer

A recent cover from a stamp dealer.

I'm curious how you get a U.N. cancel.

Cadiz

Click for a detailed image of the cover.

I recieved this cover today at the post office. It was attempted twice to be delivered as noted by the initials, probably my postmans and whoever he turned it to each night. Being registered I couldn't just sign for it to be dropped off without someone present.

Angel has a new blog he started and I'd like to first give you his new blog address. http://sendmeacover.blogspot.com/

I noticed a link on his site to http://gulfmanncollection.blogspot.com/
which just happens to be a favorite of mine to read.

Spains on my quest list now

No postmarks on the reverse of cover. Only his address if you want to mail a cover to someone and don't know whom to.

Hashemite

My neighbor was kind enough to bring this cover to my house to see. She wants it back so I just got a scan.

Went to the stamp meeting last night and ordered several international polar year sheets. 2 - 84 cent stamps.

The final frontier. Russias got more space launches then anyone else

Howdy Doody had quite a number of Russian stamps in my mixture.

Navy

Nothing like a set of naval ships. Russia seems to have an unbelievable number of stamp issues.

The 4K Sub and 15K minesweeper, I can say I've worked on both classes of ships in the shipyards. Not these Russian boats, but the US versions.
Kinda cool, to me at least.
1982, 5085-5089
I'm psyched about the Chinese shootdown of a satellite.
Go China!!!! Technology is great and I say again.....China is going to beat the US to Mars. I don't think Russia wants to waste the money.
Don't forget to click on the images to get a closer view, nicer view and bigger view.
Go Packers!!!!

Howdy Doody!!!

Howdy Doody!!!
I just like that phrase.

That's what got me to look at a $5.00 ad in a U.S. stamp publication classified ad. His address is in IL as is mine. I slipped a 5 with no note besides howdy doody and a short time later got my return.

I was impressed to say the least. A great time looking at something new for me.

My friend at work.......Hi Mike!!!.....who is not a stamp collector had some time and was willing to look at my return, and also some WW that another friend had brought in for me. I handed him a stamp tong and he actually checked out EVERY stamp.
Most amusing to me was his interest in a machin. Much to my chagrin, I am not a machin man. GB is awesome, but I lose it on machins. Check out http://groups.msn.com/StampsofGreatBritain/_whatsnew.msnw is what I would tell someone and meet some machin lovers.
Mike you haven't seen anything until you've seen all the machins. Or should I say "Is it possible to see all the machins?". He was quick to spot another with a heavy cancel and knew right away which one he liked.

I'm guessing the bottom one is a Tuna. Here we go from my book.
Hake
Deep-sea fishing trawler(duh)
Mackeral
Pilchard
Dentex macrophthalmus(I couldn't find a common name)
another type of Mackeral
Otolithes macrognathus(again no common name)
and Lichia vadigo....oops I guessed wrong.

Yo Ho Ho

Ships of the East India Co. No doubt. Political wealth and human cost is what I think of it all.

I expected to see thins on the backside of these, but was surprised that no gum at all is disturbed. I think that's gum in fact hanging out from the paper on the bottom left of the 22.5.
Oh yeah, the East India Co. makes me think of privateers and pirateers also. Aargh!!

60

Wednesday night I went to my local stamp club meeting for the first time in exactly a year. Next week I go on days and will be able to go to the meetings once again.

Our club made these cool decals to go on envelopes this past year and I was able to scarf a bunch of them.

Heres a nice stamp for collectors of coins.

May daughter came out from CT this week visiting if you are wondering about the blog writing rest.
Somebody may have noticed Moo leaves comments ocasionally. She didn't, I might add, jump at the chance of going to a club meeting.
