Stampless Cover


I don't have very many examples of covers without stamps.

This one strikes me odd, with the double circular mark that looks like a stamp cancel. Why mark the cover paid and also give it a stamp like that? Does anyone know what this 00 looking mark is for?

Postmarked Apr 29 Trenton NJ, I assume 1846 by the note written on the right side of the envelope.

Whoever recieved it was careful and cut around the seal to open it.
