Barbados Victory Angel

Is that a victory wreath in her hand? Kinda like the ones the Ceaser's used to wear into town?

Nice pair of wings there.

U.N.

Why can't we get along? Why can't everybody that cries democracy and want peace, join the best version of global democracy and bow to it. Instead many just flaunt their nose when it suits them. I'm not gonna point any fingers.

Nice cover eh? It's still just a dream.

Italy

A friend my wife works with at the hospital went to Italy and sent us this postcard. Thank you so much JoAnn for taking the time to send it.

Columbia Overprinted

I can't find these stamps in my catalogue, someone wrote 107 on the clip of paper and I'm certain that is not the catalogue number. In my book anyways.
Are any of you serious Columbia collectors? Or do you know what they are? Wait a moment... Is that a Panama overprint? Yep. Hmmm, probably not the double overprint listed, though I could argue that it's got 2 overprints. They are probably referring to a set actually stamped twice. Not to mention, this is a pathetic condition for a stamp to be in. Some people just can't throw anything away I guess.

Here's a Columbian stamp now. Kinda tricky there.

This summer is turning out to be a wicked hot one.

Peace

Never forget the fear. It was a simpler time, just a couple super powers.

Then a few.

Now it is many.

War Penny

My first Penny I found it on this sheet.

The greatest naval man ever and onward. Lord Nelson. I actually have wood from the ship Victory and you can too!!! It's embedded in a stamp!!! You may already know that, but I like to bring it up. I'm sure if you follow this blog regular you already know this.

God save the Queen!!

Disbursing Office

June 15th 1936
That explains the penciled fireworks on the cover front. It would have no doubt been a note for the 4th of July celebration planned a short time after recieving the letter.
I like the stamp on the back. I wonder what it's purpose is? Courtesy of Uncle Sam.

Niagara Falls

Deb went on a trip this week vacationing with her Mom and siblings. This is a postal card. This is not my first Canada card. My friend Leonard from Canada has sent me nice stuff too.

Gas prices are gonna spike again, all because we can't just all get along.
:(

Welcome to our new member from Peru. We are glad to see you aboard!!

Singapore

Wow!!! I finally got off my duff and returned some covers today. Slovenia, France and Singapore are the last 3 countries I mailed covers to today.

Thanks Flo, for this nice Singapore cover.

Snake Charmer, quite the trade!!!

Is anyone expecting a letter from me who has not heard from me?

The reason I ask, is that I got an email from someone I know I wrote a letter to and who hasn't recieved it yet. But I'm afraid I may have forgotten to mail a return to someone. Pipe up so that I can get you your cover, I may have actually forgotten you sent me a cover. What? Me forget something? Hardly likely but very possible.

Little Rock

This fdc makes me think of Bill Clinton. Not a bad guy.

I was a lazy bum this weekend. No posts for two days. I feel bad for all the diehard readers needing fixes. sorry about that.

JimmyB

France

I can't believe it, but within about a week, I've gotten my missing France cover AND a postcard too!!

Not to mention even, that they are from two different people!!!

The postcard is from a friend that lives in our neighborhood off galavanting around the world.

Haiti

This fella here led a charge in battle against Napolean's troops and eventually won the battle.
He led a charge into a spray of bullets, his hat struck by one, then his horse went down and he was struck again in the hat. He then turned around shouting the charge and needless to say, his men heartily followed.

UN FDC UC1

Here we go, good stuff. stamps, covers, fdc, and first airmail envelope all rolled into one giant heap!!!! Not to mention the noble cause of the UN.

It seems ashame the US even hosts the place, considering it flips it's nose at whatever it decides to regardless of the UN decision. It would be nice to see the UN pass some resolution and statement holding the US in contempt of the UN values of UN democracy, along with a chastisement for it's withdrawal of backing up the Geneva Convention. Which I believe until about the time Bush came into office, our leaders at least believed in the principle.

Cheney is an evil man, I am convinced of it. Evil.

France

Thank you Eric, for this fantastic cover. The stamp and the postmark are both exceptional and I cannot thank you enough. Viva La France!!! Hot nudes!!! Cock fight!!!

Document Stamps

More back of books. These fall into the overprint collectors category.

Busy this weekend, painted a bedroom and got a new computer desk installed(a nice one). No time for stamping. Tomorrow is another day.

Italy

The portrait and symbol change on the right side for each denomination, I'm not quite sure what it commemorates. A way for the church to raise money for outreach programs I think. I could be WAY off on that though. Catholicism isn't one of my strengths in trivial pursuit.
My catalogue says that this set was sold mostly to speculators. I imagine that means used is really expensive. This set is MNH so it gets thrice the value of the hinged sets. I'll trade these for a used set. Hehehe, I shouldn't laugh, a used set in poor condition would be a fair trade. OK, not poor, fair-good.

Airpost FDC

I can't seem to find this in Scott's US First Day Cover 2004 book. I wonder if I'm blind or what??
I found it, $20+ catalogue value. Not bad, maybe one of the better covers I've got in US FDC's

Railway stamps

These are Bavaria railway issues. Cinderellas. I'd be thankful for any info on these from someone with a catalogue that has these. My Scotts catalogue doesn't bear any info. Maybe my future internet searches will pull something up. I've found nothing so far.

I need to get back into firing off model rockets. Maybe I can find a big Estes 3 stage rocket and set off a big political uproar trying to see if I can shoot it over the Mississippi river and getting it to land safely.

JimmyB

Army Frank

I'm not quite sure exactly where I would find a catalogue with these. I wish I could tell you something about them. Hopefully someone someday will come across this and leave a comment, knowing what these stamps are. I can't find them in Scott's. I wonder if Scott's Specialized catalogue has them? HMMMMMM!

JimmyB

Hong Kong

I actually won an item at a stamp auction house!! Hundreds of FDC's US mostly from 40's into the 80's. Duck stamps, revenue stamps, postcards, even 3 old stamp albums.
I've often pondered getting this gem. I just happened across it(along with the lower denominations) in a glassine.
I'm psyched. I've got plenty of fresh material for a while to come now. I may need some help identifying a few of the stamps.
