Uruguay

New stamp pal AND an addition to my quest. Scratch Uruguay off my list of countries I need a letter from.
Most of the world probably knows this cup. Being a US citizen, I'm pretty out of touch with world football. Or soccer as we call it here and in other parts.
For a lot of cool soccer stamps check out the cddstamps link on the right(maybe way down the page) Michael often shows soccer topic stamps, you may have to dig in his massive archive for more.
Noones gotten the Latino postal card yet I offered awhile back. Something else awhile back too.
I may have a quail stamp posted soon with Cheney.
I put this website in Announcements in Linn's classified. I was just curious if anyone would see it and visit. Welcome if you are. It's a good weekly, I've got a couple good dealers who offer good nickel and low cost used over higher then minimum value.

Hyderabad

Here's a place not known commonly except for the stamp collector. Hyderabad, located in central India 1869-1948. The kind of place that would pop up on a Jeopardy show.

There's nothing funny about the accident. Accidents are me in a nutshell. But this was so good and depending on your views on things, very fitting.

Does anyone have a quail stamp I could put on todays notes? I know Cees(see link on right) has plenty of chicken stamps. I could find one if I had the time(Wheres my staff?). I realized tonight I have no duck stamps. Someday.

OK guys, I'm just browsing cnn news after I posted this and check out the Bush story I read. I swear, I hadn't a clue when I posted this stamp today. Bush is actually there right now. Some things happen by such coincidence that it's truly uncanny.

Latino

The Jim Henson Muppet stamp would have made a better cover for this years stamp show, but I figure they'd of had to pay for copyrights to do that. This is still nice. I do have two other days with different stamps from the series. Do I hear trades? Same artcover each day. A local artist did a nice job. Did you send a postcard to the boy in yesterdays blog?

USPS did it right

The USPS has been putting out a lot of lame stuff, but I gotta say they did it right just over a year ago when they released this booklet. 20 37 cent stamps, good looking too I think for $8.50. I've seen dealers marking these up for 100%. The funny thing is, that it's the only way to get the stamp. You also can get them still from the post office for $8.50. Of course many po's are out of them. Just gotta order from usps via internet and pay extra for shipping.
I imagine I'll find half a dozen stamp pals to mail a set to. Remember that I am on a quest for a letter from every country. My collection has been growing slowly. Still need Australia, Spain, New Zealand, Vietnam, Iraq, Great Britain, well the list goes on and on right now, soon it'll be a short list. It's nice to get home from work and relax.

St Lucia newspaper rate

Interesting. I like the warning to people who may sneak a note into the envelope.

I used to deliver newspapers. I had a rural route and was paid a "premium" because my customers were spread out and walked twice as far for half the customers. I remember my Dad would always drive me around on Sunday morning, even though he didn't have to. That was even when he worked two jobs 6 days a week.

Times have changed and so has the rate for sending newspapers. I wonder how many newspapers St Lucia mails now?

UC of West Indies

These FDC's show that some people involved in the preperation of covers don't think. Like many of us don't at times. The people putting stamps on one cover noticed that the stamp outline on the cover was one verticle and one horizontal, while the two stamps used were both verticles and ignored the missprint. I've got 5 of these covers from different countries and 2 of them have one of the stamps facing the wrong direction. It only goes to show us that people are conformists, even when it may be wrong to conform. The cover with Montserrat stamps is the one with the verticle stamp applied horizontally in order to conform.

Stamp Show!!

You all have to be tired of me mentioning the stamp show, well it's TODAY!! These were the 3 stamps being released Friday their in the official first day ceremony. Unfortunatly noone understood this Friday when I had to work, or I wouldn't have. The top 63 cent stamp is of Utah, a diverse stat that has an awesome variety of landscape. Some areas could be used as a setting for a space planet filming and 50 miles down the road your seeing something from an old western film. Cool state to travel around in.
