Bush stamp

The Postal Service has created a 39 cent first class stamp with a picture of President Bush. The stamp has not been sticking to envelopes, which in turn enraged the President, who demanded a full investigation. After a month of testing, a special presidential commission presented the following findings:

1) The stamp is in perfect order.
2) There is nothing wrong with the applied adhesive.
3) People are spitting on the wrong side.

Thanks Diane

Here's the souvenier sheet for Marshall Island. I always see ads for Marshall Island stuff I'd never buy, it makes me feel like a sucker to need it.

Trafalgar and war ships

The veritable who's who of the great war ships. I had to get this for my Trafalgar anniversary set.
I hated to, because I feel like I'm buying a set that's pumped out for collectors, but how the heck can you have a complete anniversary set of all stamps commemorating the 200th anniversary?
This set is different then all my others so far, in that their are stamps that deal with ships unrelated to the battle at all. Oh well, fortunately they got a painting of the HMS Victory, lame as the painting is.

Baliara Egypt cancellation

Not much here really, but interesting for it's age. issued in 1884 and postmarked in 98. These stamps must be in every bulk older stamp mix. What I like is the Sugar Apparatus MFG. Co. That's a riot!!!

Uganda Kenya Tanganyika

Only 323 regular postage stamps in my catalogue, not counting 12 postage dues. Perhaps a reasonable quest, except for perhaps the King George V 3 Pound and up with values up to $50,000 and up for the 100 Pound one. Whew!! this stamp is worth a couple hundred if the left rope doesn't touch the sail. When it does touch the sail, like this one, it's worth the time you look at it.

Impeach Bush. Protect America. Defend your rights in the 4th Amendment or get Congress and Senate to repeal it.

St Vincent birds

Perhaps you can see now what messed me up the other day on the Grenadines of St Vincent stamps, I knew I had these and thought those on the cover were those, I just need the 2 highest values for the set. Good Luck. Then again you never know what you can find when you look.

My protest blog was last Saturday, yeah. Deb listened to the new Neil Young CD tonight and told me Young hates Bush more then I. Is that possible? hehe
One of his songs is called I think"shock and awe" another was "Impeach the President", sounds like I need the CD. OOps, I got it.

State stamps sheet

Daily scans of stamps and covers are starting to fill my hard drive. It looks like I need to find the screws to put an extra drive I have into my PC. This sheet of stamps uses 9.4 Megs of space. Wow, space hog.

My excitement over the massive number of hits on my website after Saturdays blog has subsided. After the initial surge on sunday(an alltime high and 3 times my average) my blog has fallen to it's typical hit place.

Well, I did my part in trying to get the madmen out of the White House.

I've been recieving emails from a local club member and he uses Excel files, it frustrated me since one was a list of inventory of what appears to be a stamp dealer in Arizona.

My question for today. Why wasn't the District of Columbia represented in this series of stamps? You can view a larger version of this sheet by clicking on the image!!!

Bicentennial Coin

Wow, scanning stamps is a whole lot easier then coins. Coins are too reflective and you need to edit the scan as much as you can. Stamps are easy, no editing really required.

I got quite a response from Saturdays post, I meant what I said. If you got an email from someone and got here, you need to look at my Saturday blog.

I haven't had any time to check out any of my stamps today, nor to peruse online at others. I did happen across an FDC I have that also came with this coin inside. The FDC was that of the 4 different craftsman. I'm being a bit obtuse my not sisplaying the cover and showing the medalion instead. Oh well, nothing wrong with a little change in scenery.

Grenadines of St Vincent

Pretty bird stamps eh? Some of you may have seen my mistake on todays blog. Noone mentioned it so I ain't fessing up.

Well, I'm glad that Bush is vigorously insuring our personal liberties are being protected as he says. It's comical how our forefathers thought that privacy meant privacy from the government. I'm starting to realize that privacy and personal freedom was an ideal that was old fashioned. All Uncle Sam needs is one excuse. Security. They think they can protect us from the Timothy McVeighs and the crazed cult groups that commit suicide flying jets into sky scrapers.
I'll gladly give up everything our forefathers fought for and let Bush rule.
Right
Impeach Bush and respect the Constitution this country is founded on. The man elected in trust and who took an oath to defend it, is destroying it, or rather yet, defying it.

Forward a link to todays post to everyone in your address book if you agree the man is unfit for the position. who knows, hopefully Congressman and Senators will be overwhelmed with "Get the man out of office" in their "personal" email from friends. Us stamp collectors know someone who knows someone who knows the guy that's a friend.

PS: Does anyone care that we are living G. Orwells (wish I could underline it) "1984"? We're becoming what we feared of Communism and Big Brother. No doubt I'm watched by Big Brother for my exchanges in stamps/covers and catalogues in Iran!!!

Repeat, Kinda

No clue what this is. Something like a stamp show with an opening day issue? I'm just guessing here, but I hope someone knows.

It goes with the sheets I showed the other day. I do have a spare sheet with an overprint available for trade.

Does anyone listen to Coast to Coast between 12:00 and 6:00 am? I don't like their foriegn policy politics, but the rest of the stuff is good. Art Bell is setting up in the Phillippines.

Have a nice day

Honduras

Here is two tax stamps(applied upside down) that went to the Honduran red cross, and another stamp that I absolutely cannot identify. Is it olive green one Lira? C97? Can anyone help me? think I might go to All nations group if I can't get anyone that can ID it for me.
I heard a scary bit of news today. Jeb Bush might be making a run to make Nostradamus's prediction of another Triumvirate come true.
I shudder.

Estonia

I'm not exactly sure what these small sheets are. Maybe someone can leave a comment and help me on this one.

Damn, I thought I knew everything!!!

OK, I can guess it's commemorating an anniversary!!!

Thank God I'm back to a normal 8 hour cycle at work. I've got another 12 hour work day week coming up the week before memorial day. Then it's up to Wautoma, Wisconsin for a couple days with my parents and sisters to check out my sisters new house and six Arabian horses that she rescued.
.............hours later
Alright, I'll put in a comment, I'm editing my blog today. It's a souvenier sheet commemorating the 75th anniversary of the first Estonian postage stamp. The sheets with the overprint in the selvage catalogue 4 times the un overprinted sheets. Somehow I have an extra one that has the overprint. I believe I was buying stamps from Kenmore back in 1993 and must have purchased the sheets from them back then.

Nepal

Here's one I know Josh will like Moo. Nepal, 15a CV $100. Tete Beche catalogues at 250 but these aren't that. Still a nice set of stamps. Someday I want to get the 10 Pound King George with the dragon, awesome stamp. I can't think of anything bright to say about GWB today.
I'm munching on my usual frozen pizza tonight. Red Baron's, fairly cheap, and still good.

#1 Mexico

I guess Mexico's first stamps were handstamped with District names. Actually I imagine all 5 denominations were issued at the same time in 1856. I wish I had all 5. Maybe someday. I read of someone once who just collected #1's. It could get $$$ This catalogued in 04 for 25 US$

Tomorrow I get on a regular work schedule. I'll be glad. Phew!!!

Jalapa is the district stamped on this stamp. Like you can't see that for yourself!!!!

Terra Haute, Indiana

This card is kinda cool\odd. Picture postcard with a place to write on the same side as the picture. Whatever happened to this idea?

I heard on the radio tonight, that Iran is considering holding Euros rather then USdollars for oil. Terrible for the US, but great for Europe and Asia. I know Bush will believe he's doing the right thing(as usual), in dealing with the financial downfall for us. I'm sure he'll even find a way to put the word "security" in his speeches when he talks about it.
God Bless the USA, God help Bush.

I got 64 hours in at work this week, so you might understand why I missed yesterday. I gotta get up in 4 hours for work tomorrow. I don't get normal hours till Tuesday. UGH!!!

Minerals

If I was a rock collector, it'd cost me an arm and a leg for these beauties. I actually paid $1.16 for them, with inflation they are probably worth same as a first class stamp today...39 cents.

News Flash!!!!

I just heard tonight that the USPS has requested to raise rates next spring to 42 cents. Also is something of greater interest. A forever stamp. Good for 1st class .....forever. I wonder if GB's stamps marked 1st are good forever. I'd think they would have to be. How could anyone remember what a color was. I'm baffled by the machin world.

Awesome rocks though, eh?

Bush is an idiot.

Costa Rica Fauna

I recieved a huge surprise today. I had written a couple months ago(at least) to a Dr in Costa Rica I saw in a stamp group online, hoping to get a letter back and I got one. Costa Rica is off my list of needed countries on my quest now. I need to still collect a lot of countries, The list is tremendous, it's easier for someone to just email me and ask if I need one. Heck, send one anyways and I'll send a nice one back.
You may have noticed my expertise in cutting and filling in on the cover. She had sent it to my old address, but it got forwarded to me. That's my natural inate ability at writing 02 Sycamore using the paint program and the mouse. I draw good stick people also.
It's a shame people in the world get along so good, but yet countries get into big issues with each other. people seem to be pawns to government leaders at times. There I go rambling again.
Anyways, this gal collects fauna I found out, so I've gotta write her back, but I've got a couple other letters need get out first. I'm backlogged. I've been there before and got through it. I'll get through again.
The statue stamp is actually imprinted on the envelope, making it a postal envelope, cool beans+ commemoratives= excellent.

Hawaii

Was yesterday lame or what? Sorry. I'm still in the process of rewiring the upstairs in my house. Nasty job.
This is better. Used but I still like it. I noticed in the Scott catalogue that the image they use has a large border on top and the right. It's nice to have a stamp with a better grade(using scott's grading system) then the catalogue version!!!!

This is #47 issued from 1883-1886. Hawaiian stamps ARE cool to collect. This catalogues 140 mint and 60 used in my book.

Does hurricane season start early this year?

Rough Sunday

Yesterday was a busy day, up early down late. Odd hours at work today mean I have just a few free minutes today. Not enough time to search for a stamp to scan, but enough time to say have a good May Day. If you haven't been here in a while, please peruse the last couple weeks.
Gotta run

Sydney

Yeah, isn't this sweet? Mint postcard from MD at cddstamps link in my links.

I looked at this postcard again tonight and decided this is has to be one of the most splendid photos of a city I have ever seen(oh yes, click on the image and get a better view). In that catagory I am including print art gallery photos. Oh how I wish when I was in Australia I had seen Sydney.

I have to say that the Aussies were fantasticly friendly while I was there. As friendly as Wisconsiners in fact. Maybe more if that is possible.

Auto License Tag renewal

Here in Illinois, we buy our state auto license plate sticker to put on our car plates. $78.00 dollars this sticker cost me, It's so valuable in mint condition that I want to keep it like I recieved it. On a peelable sticker back stuck to the back of the bill that was mailable(I walked in with the bill).

Illegal immigrants are the big news topic here in the US right now. It's hard to believe that people who are breaking the law are protesting. It's hard to believe someone who is illegally here is even allowed to live here, let alone protest their right to be here!!!! Is the US screwed up or what????

What do illegal immigrants have to do with stamps and covers? Well, they do write home to their families and send money. I just need someone to send me one of those covers. Please? Better yet, how about a cover from mexico?

I see Mexico's Congress decriminalized possesion of drugs for people who use them to free up police for large scale operations. Good call, the jails are full of addicts. Jailing someone for being an addict is ludicrous. If you want to fight drugs go after the big time people with large distribution, not the millions of users.

Wait, did I say millions of users? Marijuana, cocaine, and heroin will all be legal in personal use size. I gotta say cocaine and heroin should stay illegal. Both of those drugs destroy people badly, pot doesn't seem like it is any worse then alcohol. I always hear of cocaine addicts and heroin addicts, but I never hear about marijuana addicts.
