U.N. flag covers and call for covers

Luxembourg, Yugoslavia, Fiji, Vietnam, France, Turkey, Bangladesh, Mali, Suriname, Guinea, El Salvador, Venezuela, Rwanda, Madagascar, United Republic of Cameroon, and Hungary.
....click on the cover for more detail....

If you'd blike to see any more then the few I scanned tonight, well...leave a comment. Remember I'm open to trades!!!! hint hint.

Heres the call.

Email this call to someone(most likely a flag stamp collector....and there are many or a UN or FDC fanatic. Even a fellow stamp collector. and ask them to forward it to an internet group they are in. Hopefully, and I mean hopefully....at this stage, according to this study that was recently done by a university. Someone should be able to know someone in one of these countries and I can check them off my want list. France I've already got a letter from, but I like the flag and wanted to post it. every other country I really do need a letter from.

If this works at all for me I'll let you know. If it doesn't, that pirate you saw the other day might pull into your harbor.
ARRRRRGH!!!!

I need a cover from each of these countries. Help me out by just forwarding a link to your stamp internet friend...we all seem to have them. Hopefully everyone will forward it so rapidly that I can get every country in the world.
OK, ....... I at least can dream can't I?
Do I sound like a needy S.O.B?
I might as well ask you to bequeath your collection to me. hehe(I would put it to good use for blog postings)

I also need to hit the lottery, the only problem is, that I never buy any tickets.

Ahoy Matee!!

It's that time of year. Krash my africa grey is up behind my right shoulder at the window. A real anti social bird. Paco my baby yellow naped amazon is in my left hand, Booboo is on my shoulder(blue crown conure) and Curly the military macaw is on my right elbow. Ain't I scary looking? You wouldn't want to bump into me on a dark corner.

Germany

Oh if this stamp were only missing a cancellation. Instead of a couple dollars in the catalogue, it'd be a couple hundred!!

Last week I posted a space set. Since then, everywhere I look is a space themed stamp!!

I'm still looking for this rocket stamp in my catalogue... gotta run to work.

Plow horse and anteater

Last September I posted an overprinted version of the stamp below.

Above is a 1921 German plowhorse from Germany. No cancel which cuts the value by more then half.

Do you see two horse heads?

What is it I like about this anteater engraving?

Elvis redux

I've found a solution, but not the cause.
I'd hastily blamed beta blogspot. This appears to work fine with my default browser which I'd never used. All is well, and if you don't know what this is about....you haven't been reading my blog. Thanks Cees for the comment. I'd given up hope.

Elvis is alive!!

Yes, I've been asked if I have the Elvis stamp.

A collector of stamps has never asked me that however.

That kind of tells you how many non stamp collectors have the Elvis stamp.

Problems tonight with uploading images. Sorry bout that.

Just so you believe me, I posted the image as a message in my In search of stamps forum link. (look on the right side of my blog)

New office building?

A new one in the FDC circuit for me. I don't have any Phd's in stamp collecting.

This appears to be an FDC as in"First day the post office opens".

I'm not certain though. Comments are very welcome here.

One could spend a lifetime just looking for these gems.

One of these days I will narrow my search.

I still need covers mailed to me from everywhere. Even repeat countries are cool for the new sets of stamps. I promise to respond in kind.

I really like the stamps from Portugal the other day.

Maybe + some if your lucky!!

Don't be shy to leave a comment for me to be able to quote one of you traders by.

I really don't want to beat my own drum, so if you think of anyone you know is a good exchanger of covers, please fwd a link to this site. I hate going into different trade groups and mentioning my blog site. I really don't want to do it.

http://blog.michael.dodd.com/ happened to mention yesterday that the IPDA was mentioned in http://stampcollectingroundup.blogspot.com/

I could be in the IPDA chatroom sometime.

Going on and on tonight......sorry.

NOT!!!

Prince of Wales Newfoundland style

St Johns East cancel, also a patriotic "Buy made in Newfoundland" cancel.

This cover is really as ugly as it looks. Still nice to have though.

Casablanca

This is no doubt a tough card to cypher out where it was mailed from. No postage stamp even!!!

OH!! I take that back. I guess all you had to do was pencil in FREE in place of the stamp!!

Portugal Masked Cover

Today turned out to be exciting!!

I got home and found this cover in my mailbox. Promised to me but forgotten about. I was in the IPDA chatroom during the marathon chat and mentioned to this guy that I needed Portugal in my quest.

By the way Jose, I can help you out on the space stamps, I just happen to have a few.

Masks are pretty cool. It's getting to be the time of year we all put costumes on for different festivals thruout the world.

Halloween comes to mind for me.

Even a super cool metered stamp!!!

Always looking for more countries. I still need Mexico to finish North America off. Costa Rica is the only Central American cover I have. Germany? Austria? Poland? Help!!!!

Nederland FDC

Semi Postals from the Netherlands. An entire set.

I'm kind of in shock, this is the second complete set of stamps I've posted in recent memory.

Does anyone have a catalogue that values this FDC? Just curious.

This is "The Laughing Child"

GB added to list

I got my first cover from GB courtesy of Michael Dodd and IPDA.

I was the high bidder on a commemorative cover.

If you'd like to see the cover, visit his site, I believe if my memory serves me he posted a scan of one of them with some info. yes, on Oct 9th.

One of these nights I'm gonna take a break and make you all suffer with some personal photo's

1873 GB

What's to say? This letter screamed at me the moment I saw it!!

Was paper scarce? probably.

I notice the reuse of an envelope it looks like.

This must have been someone really pinching pennies, even the ink is sparse!!!

I didn't realize postage to the US was 1 penny. The cancellations are way beyond my scope of knowledge.

JimmyB, still searching

Postal Card

Except for the crease(ugh!!), I really like this postal card. The other side of the card is blank.

It's really tough finding just one aspect of philatelica to concentrate in.

You could spend a lifetime just concentrating on postal cards.

Where should I begin? Should I narrow my quest down?

No.

JimmyB

Post Script...if you don't know me I need more letters from many countries, please email me if you are not from the US. I probably DO need a letter from you!!!! Mexico, please help me. I need you for North America!!! If you know a trader in Mexico, please send him or her a link to this page. Gracia.

London Cancel

This cover caught my eye. GB to USA with a stamp hand stamped rather then paper postage stamp.

Probably nothing to collectors of GB, but kind of novel to me.

Australia

I think MD of cdd down under refered to this set just recently. When I saw it today at Belleville's annual event, I had to grab it.

It was nice seeing the members of the club. I haven't been able to attend a meeting since last January due to my work schedule.

Don't forget, clicking on the image sometimes makes it larger.

If you have a hard time loading, all I can say is.......broadband can be gotten cheap!!!! UPGRADE!!!!

Times have changed. I believe this St Clair Co. Society is defunct. Probably because reminders like this one for meetings were sent late or at the last minute!!!

Cardinals

They took the division, now it's San Diego!!!

Not to Sound like Michael Dodd going on about Football as I think he calls it...it's soccer in the US.

For those not familiar, this is the baseball team in St Louis who practice in the spring in Florida. March 7th is about a month before the regular season starts.

They finished 2nd in the National League in 1941, hopefully they'll beat the Padres and go on to at least match 1941's record. They won tonight 5-1

Garuda over Bangkok

This is one form of deity that I'd be hiding from. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garuda

Happiness is the key here, because I have an actual full set of something for a change.

Issued 1952, this is the last air post stamp issued in my Scott's.

I visited the IPDA chatroom this past weekend, kinda sorta. I hope to hear from some of the people I bumped across there.

Though you don't see it often, my main quest IS getting a cover/postcard from every country. Please don't assume I've got one from where you live. Unless of course you live in the US, Canada, France, Australia, Palestine(though I always want more), Isreal, India, China, Chile, Argentina, Phillippines, Guyana, Slovenia, Nederlands, Costa Rica and now I'll pause and have to think some. That's a short list of what I've got that I'll buckle down and add to.

Spain

I looked this up this am. #314. This is a minimum value stamp. 1920 issue date.

Plain Jane looking!! Blue green ink and no perforations.

Stamps issued by Spain prior to this were quite detailed. See below issued till only 1899.

It makes me wonder why they went on the cheap in designing this gem?
