Tanna Tuva

Not exactly one of the places people know. From 1926 to 1933 it issued stamps. On the Mongolian Siberian border.

Yesterdays triangle stamps made me grab these tonight. While these are not rare, by the same token, they are not common either.

With an overprint, the value shoots up like a hundred dollars.

HMMM. Why the heck do I suddenly want the two overprints?

Must be a case of the stamp fever.

I need more money then I got, for what I want.

Click on the image for a closer view.

I still need covers from Thailand, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, heck, the whole region. I need one from New Zealand too. That would be awesome.

Lithuania

OK, this partial set of 3 stamps has a bit of interest for a few collectors.

One, it's shape, for those freaks out there who only collect triangle stamps.

Two, it's an airmail, for the airdales collecting just airmail stamps, this set dates 1932.

What else? HMM.. I'm stretching it now, but if your a topical collector of battles, the first two depict the Battle of Shauyai. Like I said, I'm stretching it now.

Oh yes, my last name is given me from my great grandfather who immigrated from there.

I do have this set of 3 available to the first person wanting it(if you can mail me a letter from one of the countries I need for my collection). Email me first before sending me a letter though, to insure I don't promise it to more then one person.

Now you can see how I deduced what yesterdays scans were. Not that I'm 100% sure. I stand to be possibly corrected.

I haven't heard much noise lately. Am I tooting my horn?

St Kitts

Caribbean tour? I'm amazed at the vast amounts of reasons to make a special cover.

I haven't received any covers in my world quest for awhile, actually quite awhile. Somehow I need to get more people to see my bloc. Any ideas other then harassing people? A contest? Giveaways? I hate to try giveaways, my luck the response would be overwhelming and I'd go broke or disappoint some people and I don't want to do either.

My local stamp club is having it's annual stamp show/bourse the first Saturday of October. I'm trying to get the day off to go. I work 2nd shift all week and can't go to meetings and I work 1st shift on Saturdays and can't do anything on Saturdays.

Work sucks.

Over Run Antarctica Deep Freezes

But actually it's warming up!!! (refering to title)

Sorry for the stained cover tonight. Not much time to blog tonight (as usual).

Working 6 days a week really does suck. Not to mention Deb works a complete different shift.

What"s with the reverse printing suddenly? Also note reverse printings seem common, I just saw a block of 4 tonight on ebay....no bids.

This is a nice cover(minus the stain) to have if your working on Antarctica. I trade.

Good References

First Flight Cover, East St Louis route

One thing leads to another.

The obverse is stamped 180 degrees around.

I just know that there are serious collectors of these who'd just love one of these. Email me, I've got three, different addressee's in the local area. I can trade. That's the beauty of collecting, PLUS you get a cool cover.

Ant eater or The French Guiana Stamp

I've seen this things on TV shows. They are quite the creature to watch.

This is a surcharged stamp. #96. Minimum value. Still nice to see. I'm sure someone is missing a few in the set.

Illinois

I live in the state of Illinois, which is shaped like the cutout(Top picture is correctly oriented).

I also live in the city of Belleville, which is where the Illinois stamp is cancelled.

I wonder what this is? I'm going to have to try and contact my local stamp club and see if there is anything to this.

This is an odd item, wouldn't you say?

Bother

I understand everyones pain, when they can't upload photos. Damn the internet traffic and downed servers.

Praise the internet too. I've added a link to my links. This really is an awesone blog. Mucho variety and as informed on stuff as a site can be. I find it hard to believe that one person works on this site!! Roundup.

Hopefully I can get some images up tonight. I need help identifying a stamp. Those Cyrrilic ones really frustrate me!!!

Newfoundland

I haven't got my perf gauge out, so I can't be sure if this is the 1928 or the reengraved stamp.

I do like the very light cancel. I really do!!

Who's gonna be the 2000th visitor?
I'm going to award a very nice gift to the 5,000th visitor.
I expect this to happen sometime in late 2007 at the rate of hit's the blog gets.

I might be wrong, but I think whoever typed the address on this cover wasn't very good in typing class, or better yet, probably never took typing.

Like I say, I could be wrong and this is proper formatting. I'll be sure to edit todays entry if someone shows this to be the custom.

We got a new member in the In Search of Stamps group.

Welcome aboard!! I'm an ex navy man, so I can say hoky stuff like that.

Pius XI

Vatican City, Numbers 29 and 30. Valued $4 and $16.

What a hoot!!! I've come across quite the mixture. I feel like the guy in the movie that was doing great and continued playing in the storm lately. It's a blast finding stuff worth more then minimum value once in awhile.

Greek Airmail__Ain't it Ashame

Greece, nice c1-4, the only problem is... whoever mounted them didn't realize the gum could stick and laid one atop another for lack of room on the page.
It will take some work, but I think a light soak would work fine.

The delema I have, is should I soak the whole stamp and lose all the gum? Or should I soak only the affixed portion in order to save some gum?

They are mint remember.

My 03 puts this set at $18.50 US. $45 NH(if wishes were nickels).

Suggestions?

Iran

I've gotten spoiled making big finds the last couple weeks. Now lets get back to normal above avg. finds. This looks to me like Scott's 541 valued $5.00 US in the '03 catalogue.
Happy as usual.

Roman States

OK, I'm seriously interested in this one. Potentially(I pray to the Gods) my biggest "Find".

If you follow up on this entry, I may well be saying they were bogus. Anyone with a specialty in this Italian set please post a comment to me or email me.

SC# 12, 14, 15, 17a, 18 and 20. CV for 03 was 75.00, 110.00, 675.00, 150.00, 125.00, and 30.00 respectively.

I just came across these 10 minutes ago. Needless to say I will need to get some measurements to show the perfs had not been trimmed off.

Otherwise, if they have been trimmed, it's still a nice set.
