Dusk or Dawn?

Hagatma Bay in Guam, west of Hawaii, though it closely resembels it.

Another tucked away letter.  My how things can accumulate in such a short time.

I went to the local post today and picked up some Hagatma Bay stamps.  I was a bit disappointed with what little was available. I was like, this is it?

It's no wonder kids don't want to collect stamps. What they need to do is come up with game piece stamps and a super cool game similar to Yugioh or any of the other card "games".

Thank you Luis for the cover from Spain, I can add it to my growing quest page , sorry for not posting this sooner.

Oh here, it might help if I upload this scan.

I've lost it to the top of my page. It will have to stay there.

Dusk, not dawn, Jimmie. From the USPS: The Postal Service will issue this stamp in the Scenic American Landscapes series to honor the Territory of Guam. Located approximately 1,600 miles east of the Philippines in the Pacific Ocean, Guam is the largest and southernmost of the Mariana Islands. Approximately 212 square miles in size — roughly three times the area of Washington, D.C. — Guam is home to a population of approximately 158,000 people, including native Guamanians, known as Chamorro, as well as others of European and Asian descent. Today the island is a popular destination for tourists, with some 1.5 million people visiting the island annually to enjoy its natural beauty. The stamp features a photograph by Michael S. Yamashita of a sunset of Hagåtña Bay in Hagatna, the capital of Guam.

Thanks Roger  Guam also has a large us military base, I sailed past it in the Navy, but never got a chance to stop there.  It's Dusk then.

400 for $4 high values

Thank you Kalpana, beautiful addition. I've been snoozing on the endeavor.  You were correct in knowing I need Germany.

I've been spending quite awhile pulling stamps from several old albums I've gotten, getting burned out on it.  During the past year I've recieved many letters which I've got tucked away and need to get back on with my quest.

Castles are great and maps are even better

Today I sent 4 bucks for an advertisement promising 400 early recent high values. I'm curious what the lot will have.

Danger in the water

Sea monsters, definitely something to worry about half a Milenia ago if you were a seafarer.
It looks like they existed down under as well as the northern seas. I definitely seek this entire set.

FOUND!!!

A few of the goodies I mentioned I lost yesterday. Turned up in a "safe spot".
I'm infamous for stashing like a squirrel. Glad I came across them quickly.

Lost

It can be such a tedium at times.

Last week I straightened up and organized a bit. Lo and behold, I organized so well that I can't find my latest mixture full of all kinds of goodies. Real goodies.

Now the packets could be anywhere. Why did I try to straighten my organized mess?

Jewels

More of the 1992 set. Looks more like the 1892 reprinted.
Does anyone have the entire 1892 set? I'd love to hear from you and see the scans of your set.

I was in Boston for the tall ships arrival in 1992, quite the show. Awesome to be there. http://www.infoplease.com/spot/tallships1.html

OREK

Stepping outside the Philatelic for a moment, I need to endorse Orek vacuums. http://www.oreck.com/oreck-xl-upright/index.cfm?keycode=DB490
My wife was vacuming and saw this stamp as she rolled over it. After digging into the bag she pulled this out looking quite well for the ride.
Get an Orek if you live in the US. I'm not quite sure they make models for outside....
Reminds me of the story of the inverted jenny that went thru the same trauma. It pays to get a good vacuum.
France leased land in China and used these for mailing from the posts and settlements. This is from Kwangchowan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kwangchowan

Choo Choo

I wonder if there are any more in this transportation set. I also wonder what the rate is compared to the postage. I've written back, but used three .37 stamps which is a bit more then the rate. My apologies to the purists.

Prince Charles III

#1's are always cool, here's Monaco #1 CV $18.00 mint. This ones not near worth that, but good enough for me right now. I'm trying to collect on some type of budget here.

Black Jack

Here I've been wanting one of these for years. #73 not a bad find for $6.50. Centering and missing perfs aside.

One of the benefits of joining the APS, not to mention they have WW and a monthly magazine.
Our club gets sales books from them.

Georgios

Don't let the low denomination of this stamp fool you about the strength of this ship. Interesting history and now a museum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_cruiser_Georgios_Averof
released on Fool's Day, 1927

Flags

The torch of freedom along with the flags of America. Also a "Victory". Issued in 1942 I'm curious about the V.

As is usual, I have an incomplete set of 5, I'm missing 219 and 222 of 209-223

American Bank Note Co. printed these at perf 12.

Cactus State

It certainly has been awhile hasn't it? I've gotten a few mixtures on approval the last couple weeks but haven't found the time to dig into them.
Arizona also sold these in 1 ounce denominations. Arizona sold these even though cannabis is illegal in the state. The one ounce stamps are blue and a revision to the design which shows a cactus was later issued.

Radiation

Aurora Borealis and Australis

You must click on the image for the broadband image. This is one of the rare U.S. stamps that come out that are great(in my eyes).
Greta Garbo was the last really good one.
This is an Omnibus release. Even better, I the countries escape my mind at the moment. At least half a dozen if my memory serves me correctly.
I'll no doubt be changing todays post with the list of countries.

Sprite

Just your typical water sprite. Famous artwork. Famous engraver.

After posting this, I noticed the odd perf cuts on top. It almost looks like a stamp is beneath. Oddest thing. I'm not soaking this one.

International response

I've heard of these before, but never seen one until this weekend at the USPS stand at the stamps show.

Nice looking item I think. Are these all identicle no matter which country you buy them in? I wonder?
